Travel Rate
The servo travel rate is useful where fast response
is undesirable, such as for servos controlling landing gear or flaps. The SM2
can set the servo rate anywhere from full speed to a 10-second delay. The delay
time is specified as the time it would take the servo to travel from one extreme
position to the other. When delayed travel is used, it is applied to the
channel input, not the servo output. This way an individual channel can be
slowed down while the other channel remains operating at full speed. This
feature is demonstrated in the "flaperon.txt" configuration file example. This
example configuration can be download from the Desert RC web site at http://desertrc.com/sm2/config_files/flaperon3s.txt.
See our web site at http://www.desertrc.com/sm2.html for
download instructions. This example illustrates the slowly moving flap control
with full-speed ailerons when two servos are used to control ailerons and flaps
using the same physical control surfaces. Use the "Travel Rate" slider-bar to set the servo
rate.
