SM2 Description
The SM2 is a telemetry enabled, two-channel standard servo mixer offered by
Desert RC. The SM2 can be used when it is desirable to mix two servo channels,
slow down servo rates, modify servo offset positions, or simply provide
telemetry information that can be logged for later playback and analysis of
servo input and output commands. There are many applications where mixing must be done on the vehicle and
cannot be accomplished by even the most sophisticated programmable transmitter,
such as when mixing is performed with a receiver output and a gyro. In addition to mixing, the SM2 also provides gain control so that one channel
can be used to adjust the gain of the alternate channel. This can be used to
adjust the sensitivity of a control surface with a secondary transmitter input,
or by using a servo compatible sensor input such as air speed. Input Signals: The SM2 will work with gyros and other input pulses that are not
necessarily synchronized with the receiver pulses. Input pulses can arrive on
either channel, in any order, and can overlap each other. Inputs can be any
frequency between the normal 50Hz from a receiver to 300Hz from a
high-performance gyro. The two inputs do not have to have the same
frequency characteristics. Output Signals: Like the input pulses, the output pulses are also handled individually and
can be programmed anywhere from 50Hz to 300Hz. Both output channels do not have
to operate at the same frequency. This is useful for driving high-performance
digital servos and gyros while taking advantage of the near instantaneous
response time of both devices. Requirements: There are three parts required to program and operate the SM2 including
the DRC-Link, the SM2 Application, and the SM2 device itself. General Description:
