Scaled Neutral Offset
Scaled Neutral offset is a feature that allows the
user to adjust the neutral position of the servo off of its center position and
still maintain the full range of servo travel over the full range
of transmitter input. For example, a servo normally rotates +/- 45-degrees for
full transmitter stick movement, and the neutral offset is adjusted so that the
servo is 20-degrees clockwise from its center position when the transmitter
stick is sitting at neutral. The servo will move linearly between +20 to +45
degrees when the transmitter stick moves the servo clockwise, and the servo will
move linearly from +20 to -45 degrees when the transmitter stick moves the servo
counter-clockwise. In this case, the motion is scaled differently depending upon
which direction the transmitter stick is moved. When Scaled Neutral Offset is turned off, the scaling
described above is disabled, and the servo position will "saturate" in the same
direction as the offset. Using the same example as above with the Scaled Neutral
Offset turned off, the servo would move from +20 to +45 degrees when the
transmitter stick is moved a little more than half way when the servo moves
clockwise, then the servo would stop moving when it reached 45 degrees even
though the transmitter stick still has available range. In the other direction,
the servo would move from +20 to -25 degrees as the transmitter stick is
fully deflected. Enable or disable Scaled Neutral Offset using the
radio-button on the left side of the SM2 Control Panel Application.
